What is radon gas?

Radon is a gas produced by the natural decay of other radioactive substances.  It is more commonly found in the Eastern U.S. although it can occur anywhere.  Radon levels vary depending on the amount of fresh air that circulates through the house, the weather and the time of year.  If the radiation level is 4 picocuries (pci) or above then remediation is required.  Remediation is accomplished by installing ventilation or exhaust systems.
